Whole-food Plant-Based eating is growing at a rapid rate in Australia, resulting in many new plant-based products & recipes becoming available. A few places in the world are called Blue Zones. The term refers to geographical areas in which people have low rates of chronic disease, and live longer than anywhere else. Interestingly it is thought that genetics probably only has a 20-30% role in longevity, with diet, lifestyle and environmental influences making up the rest.
These blue zones have been extensively studied, and it has found that they all have one thing in common, in that the inhabitants eat at least a 95% plant-based diet. Click HERE for a great Ted Talk.
